Maurice Cockrill RA: Selected Paintings
Maurice Cockrill RA From Thu. 11th February to Sat. 6th March Hillsboro Fine Art 49 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1 Phone: 087 2444963
Much anticipated second solo exhibition in Dublin of one of Britain's foremost painters.
Born in Hartlepool in 1936, though now living in London, Maurice Cockrill is one of the most protean, original and important artists working today. Very much a 'painter's painter', not for him the easy path of repeating that which works well; his innovative painting has a unique energy, and it is always evolving and challenging. Cockrill's wonderful, sensuous work is included in important public and private collections worldwide.

"Grasshopper"
Eve Parnell From Sat. 20th February to Thu. 25th March Mill Theatre Gallery
Dundrum Town Centre,
Dublin 14 Phone: (01) 2969340
This exhibition of large, high-quality photographs brings us to leafy worlds.
While popular folklore and mythology stretching back to ancient times has woven stories around the tiny creatures that live in these places, to many they inhabit an alien universe. Yet, as the entomologist and biologist know, their world is also ours and these images, of light and dappled shade, of earth and plantlife, invite us to explore and delight in it. The resilient delicacy of natural structures and the interconnecton of all living things is the stuff of both science and poetry.
Open Mon- Sat 10am-6pm
Open late when show on in main theatre.

Shani Rhys James: Recent Paintings
Shani Rhys James From Thu. 8th April to Sat. 1st May Hillsboro Fine Art 49 Parnell Square West, Dublin 1 Phone: 087 2444963
It is difficult to believe that this is the first solo exhibition in Dublin by this hugely acclaimed Welsh painter.
Shani Rhys James is an artist whose quality as a painter outshines all that is fashionable and transient in contemporary art. Born in 1953 in Melbourne, Australia, she has since childhood lived in Wales and is undoubtedly the most exciting and critically acclaimed Welsh painter of her generation. A Jerwood Prize (UK's most prestigious prize for painting) winner in 2003, she has also won the Hunting Prize, National Portrait Award, Mostyn Open, the Gold Medal at the National Eisteddfod and was made an MBE in 2006. In 2007 she received The Glyndwr Award, presented by MOMA for her outstanding contribution to Welsh Art.
A hardback publication will accompany the exhibition.
